Working with the best leading-edge water technologies from around the world gives the Artemis Project a unique perspective on emerging market opportunities.
In addition to working with technology companies, we seek out and work directly with a limited group of leading corporations to help them optimize their “water footprint.”
As a consultant on new and emerging markets, Principal Laura Shenkar speaks at industry conferences, supports industry research, and participates in non-profit initiatives.
Recent industry initiatives include:
Water Study for Environmental Entrepreneurs (www.e2.org)—Laura co-authored a study that quantitatively evaluated the connections between energy and water conservation. This study determined that through water conservation, California can reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by up to 7 million metric tons of CO2 equivalents per year by 2020.
Going Green—Water Emerges as a Primary Opportunity for Cleantech—In September 2007, Laura brought together leading water investors and water companies to discuss diverse market opportunities and investment themes at GoingGreen, a conference hosted by Tony Perkins and Ed Ring. At the conference 19 water companies, chosen from a list of 83 nominees, were named to the “GoingGreen 100,” a list of the hottest private companies in greentech.
In 2006, she made the keynote speech, “From Product to Profit—Bringing Innovative Water Technology to Global Markets,” at the ZIWR Water Research Institute Annual Conference at Ben Gurion University in Israel (
www.ziwr.co.il) and gave a talk on “Innovative Approaches to Extracting Inorganic Pollutants from Industrial Wastewater” at the Innovations Summit in Haifa, Israel.
For Astia (
www.astia.org), Laura brought together water technology investor Unilever Ventures, Intel’s corporate water technology development manager, and two early-stage companies for a panel on “Water, the Next Cleantech Investment Wave.”
Laura is a member of the Water Environment Foundation (WEF) Small Communities Committee, the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF), the WateReuse Association, the Israel and America Water Works Associations (IWWA and AWWA), and Entrepreneurs for the Environment (E2).
